밧드야 VATYA
나와 달과 청풍을 위한 세 칸의 자리
밧드야는 「십 년을 경영하여」에서 노래한 초가 세 칸의 소박함과 자연을 받아들이는 마음에 주목했다. 나 한 칸, 달 한 칸, 청풍 한 칸으로 나누어진 세 칸의 공간을 한글 자음의 형태인 ㅇ, ㅁ, ㅣ와 연결해 원형(O) 너른판, 사각(ㅁ) 너른판, 너른 향로로 풀어냈다. 가운데를 비워 자연스럽게 공간을 남겨두고, 세 다리로 받치는 둥근 구조를 통해 옛 시조가 담고 있는 비움과 여유의 미학을 현대적인 생활 도구로 구현했다.VATYA drew inspiration from the simplicity of the three-room thatched house described in the sijo “Building for Ten Years.” The poem divides the small home into a room for oneself, a room for the moon, and a room for the breeze, leaving the surrounding landscape open to be admired. VATYA translated this idea into the forms of Korean consonants ㅇ, ㅁ, and ㅣ, creating a family of objects with circular, square, and linear forms. By leaving the center open and supporting the round structure with three legs, the collection expresses the traditional aesthetics of emptiness, space, and leisurely appreciation of nature through contemporary objects.
